Harmonic mitigation filters work on the principle of providing a drainage path for harmonic currents so that they do not interfere with the rest of the power system. There are two types of filters; passive and active which both have different purposes. Passive filters contain inductors and capacitors that enable the design of a resonant circuit that is meant to dampen certain harmonic frequencies. On the other hand, active filters are able to alter their characteristics in response to changes in the electrical system. By mitigating unwanted harmonics, the solutions protect sensitive devices, increase the power quality, and decrease energy losses. Installing harmonic mitigation filters is extremely important in manufacturing, data centers, renewables, and so forth as the power quality has a direct effect on the productivity levels.
